U Street Restaurants

U Street has an eclectic collection of restaurants and dining establishments.  While the majority of the places to eat are new, trendy, and hip, there are still some survivors from long ago who are still serving up great food to the people of the U Street Corridor.

Ben’s Chili Bowl

Ben’s Chili Bowl also known as “The Bowl”is one of U Street’s longest lasting and oldest restaurants.  It is considered a historic spot and has served food to famous Washingtonians such as Martin Luther King Jr., Bill Cosby, and Duke Ellington.  The Bowl is still serving excellent food today and is a great late night spot to eat.

Coppi’s Organic Restaurant:

Coppi’s Is an excellent restaurant with fresh foods and brings italian flavors to the Washington, DC U Street area.  Coppi’s holds their foods to very high expectations and uses organically and locally grown foods.  This restaurant comes highly recommended.

Cork Wine Bar:

Cork is a classy yet relaxed wine bar located in the U Street Corridor at 1720 14th Street, NW.  They have tapas like appetizers that are amazing.  The cheese trays and avocado bruschetta are highly recommended.  Tryin a “flight of wine” takes you through three different wines that very in body and flavor.  If you are looking for a great refined atmosphere for a date, Cork Wine Bar is the place to go.

Chi Cha Lounge:

Chi Cha Lounge is fun bar with a laidback atmosphere in the U Street Area. It can be be found on U Street between 16th and 17 Streets at 1624 U Street, NW Washington, DC. The food is excellent as well as the drinks.
